First time in the green mustache — self-shot by French 75, 2021
DEBUT is a monument to my mustache, the first piece of my drag; and to honor becoming myself as French 75.
This OG (original green) mustache has lived and loved with me, gone camping and to galas and to other countries with me, kissed girls and boys and in-between, been on stages and in audiences, and become a part of my identity. As I retire the first and don a new one, this piece of me that holds my sweat and tears and so many memories lives on: immortalized in rhinestones, stepping through the curtain, emerging and being truly seen.
Materials: mustache: dyed green & worn 2 years, plaster casts, thrifted frame, lipstick tube, copper leaf, chains, spikes, rhinestones.
Influences: Maison Schiaparelli, past collaborator @nudell.arts, and my big drag and burlesque family.
